Dear Parents:
We have been closely monitoring the situation and the recommendations of the CDC, state, and local health organizations regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus). We assure you that our decisions are always made with the safety and wellness of our students, faculty, and staff - as well as their families - as our top priority.
Early this morning one of our students informed us that s/he suspects that s/he had secondary or tertiary exposure to the virus, was not feeling well, and was going to the doctor. Additionally, two staff members reported being ill with flu-like symptoms. Although none of these individuals have been tested for the virus, out of an abundance of caution, Guerin College Prep is closing for today so that the building can be thoroughly cleaned. Should we learn that anyone in our community does test positive for COVID-19 (Coronavirus) in the future, we commit to sharing that with parents, faculty, and staff via email.
All sports practices, team gatherings, and competitions, performances, clubs, class activities, and other events are canceled until further notice. Sponsors and coaches will not be allowed to hold practices or other gatherings off-site. We discourage students from organizing their own gatherings.
Beginning Monday, March 16 we will implement eLearning until further notice.
To allow time for preparation, today (March 13) will be a Teacher Professional Day (a day of non-attendance). Given the fluidity of the virus situation in the Chicago area, students were advised at an assembly yesterday to bring all their items home every day, so we trust they have all items needed for eLearning in their possession.
Please review instructions regarding eLearning at guerinprep.org/eLearning
A comprehensive description of the faculty commitments and student expectations under the Guerin Prep eLearning Program are available at guerinprep.org/eLearning. We strongly encourage you to review this information with your students.
As things develop, we will notify you of changes via email, robocall (telephone), and via our website. www.guerinprep.org
This is a stressful and unprecedented situation for our school, our families, and our local and global community. Let us hold one another in prayer as we move through these difficult times together.
